Cat+GirlHi, Everyone! Welcome and thanks for reading!
When I was a kid, my family moved quite a lot. My father worked for General Electric, and we belonged to a program where families could move every few years in order to see the country and to work in new environments. I was born in Upstate New York, but we soon moved to the top of a mountain near Asheville, North Carolina. After Kindergarten, we moved to a suburb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and in the sixth grade, we moved back to Upstate New York. There were a million times it seemed when I was "in between" friends. I missed the ones I'd left behind and was also lonely because I hadn't made any new friends yet. I felt like Girl quite often. We also had a cat (Meisha), and we were very close. I imagined that when I became an adult, I would settle in one place and never budge again. In the end, though, I continued to move around as an adult. I always thought that I would love to put down a single set of roots, but it never happened. Though, happily, I am realizing that I have an entire root system! |
